Official U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command fan page!

6 Feb

So glad I found this!

This is the best thing ever! I found the Official U.S Navy Recruit Training Command Fan page on Facebook. It is managed by RTC Public affairs themselves so it is an awesome place to go if you have questions or want to feel connected with your loved ones in boot camp. You can even find forums on your specific Division and make friends with people in that same division and graduating class! Any question I ever has had been answered following this page and its just a great support group. And I have to say one of the best parts about this page is their Trivia Tuesday’s! They ask a random question and whomever gets the right answer first gets to see a picture of their loved ones division!!!! So You know where I will be every Tuesday!!

Good Information on Boot.

25 Jan

I was writing My husband a letter and I wanted to talk to him about things he is going through up there in Boot but had no idea what to discuss so after reading this article, I was able to ask him about P. Week,  His newly issued BC glasses, the confidence course, the confidence chamber, stuff like that. I thought he would love it and enjoy that I am so involved and possibly know more than him at this point…lol    . Here is the link to the information.

The Phone call.

20 Jan

I last saw him yesterday night. The whole day we were doing last minute errands and cleaning the house and he was writing his little baby cousin a graduation letter for someone to read aloud to he on her special day since he will not be there when she graduates this year from High School. He had to go to the recruiters one last time to sign a few papers. I told him to ask them over the phone beforehand if I need to be there and they said no so I decided to let him drive himself there to take care of his stuff while I finish cleaning the house, anyways I do not need them asking me stupid cliche questions like “you ready?” Because I will most certainly tell them how I really feel….and not what they probably usually  hear. Well it turns out Edwin calls me from the recruiters and tells me they do need me and that he was on him way home to pick me up. See gals its little things like this that bug me about recruiters…so pay attention, they talk a lot out of their butts so you really have to make sure what they are saying is accurate. One time I went over again how much we should expect on his pay dates and he tells me we will not get Housing/Groceries till he is out of boot……and I said…Ummm I thought we get that right away from day one (since were a family with dependents) and he says this to me…” Well if you get it…you get it” WTF kind of answer is that?!?! Then he turns to his superior and the other guy corrects him and says yes we will get it since he has dependents…  Then when I got there yesterday to sign whatever it is they needed me for…..the guy forgets to send off Edwin’s official E-2 paperwork letting boot know he should be getting paid so. So if the Main guy running the place did not catch it, we probably would have been cheated out of some pay and it would have been a lengthily process to fix. SO…..just be aware…ANYWAYS……so after the recruiters office we drive to Tampa to meet up with his parents for a quick bite at Chipotle…He wanted Taco Bell and I was like….Ummmm no that’s tacky..I am not eating Taco Bell with you on our last evening together…so we compromised and went to Chipotle which is conveniently right next to the Hotel I needed to drop him off at anyways. After we were done eating we went to the hotel and I told him to check out the situation inside and let me know how serious they were about letting family hang out with him in his room for a little bit or whatever. Well apparently they take that stuff very serious and anyways he had a roommate. Some guys were there for m.e.p.s in the morning and these guys were from cities a couple hours away. And some guys were there to leave for boot in the morning. It was all different branches and you could tell they were all around, and I saw some guys in uniform. So we hung out in the lobby for a few short minutes and then it was time to say our goodbyes because he had to be in his room by 8pm. His mom and dad were pretty torn up and tears were flowing.. as they hugged him…..then it was my turn and my spigot was broken or glued shut cause this faucet was not flowing. I hugged him and told him I was proud to be his wife and Anthony gave him a hug and he was taking it pretty well as well…( I am not really sure why I am not a big ball of snot and goo from all of the crying I am suppose to be doing right now…..But I am taking this rather well, Have not shed one tear yet, but we will see how I feel in a few weeks time)  and I was on my way home with Anthony shortly after. We kept in contact Via Text for the night and the next morning before he went to M.e.p.s for his final drug test. Then communication was minimal while he was at the airport. He got to m.e.p.s I think around 6am and stayed there till about noon, then he got to the airport and left his flight to Chicago around 4pm. Landed around 7pm and called me as soon as he landed. He told me it was like -1 degrees outside and he was on his way to the Navy office they have there at the airport, after that he got on a bus and its about an hour from the airport to Great Lakes where boot is. I waited and waited and waited for his call. I knew it was going to be short and sweet so I even made up a script in case I get flustered and forget what to ask him. Time went by and still no call…….I drifted in and out of sleep and finaly was awoken to my ringtone of L.M.F.O (party rock anthem) It was him, he was calling from his cell. I picked it up, still half alseep….may I remind you it was 2:14am. And here is what he said word from word: (Hey I only have a few minutes uhh…just wanna let you know your ganna get a box sent home you should get in 2-3 weeks……and uh….you’ll start recieving letters after 2 weeks and you wont hear back from me again for 3 weeks. Ok? I cant talk very long. Love you too, bye. ) It was sooooo short and It didn’t help that I was half asleep. But there you have it…..the famous call.. that’s pretty much what they tell them to say…It sucked…I wont like….he sounded very monotone and scripted…and I am sad I did not get to talk to him longer, but o well……I will attach the actual phone conversation to this post if it lets me…..because yes my crazy butt recorded it, I downloaded this app that record phone conversations, unfortunately it sounds pretty bad..quality wise….so I apologize in advance for that. But that’s all for now, I am super tired because for some reason I thought it was imperative to write this post now….at 3:18am in the morning…its still fresh…you understand right? Tomorrow I would have forgotten half of what I wanted to say…..anyways…have a good night and Oh! by the way….if your wanting more insight into what happens first day at Navy boot, watch this video! It shows you exactly what to expect! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvKAhmgkoj4
